The reason why neither Artur Mas nor Andreu Mas-Colell would specify the precise figures of how much money their third austerity plan would save or generate is because they don’t know what these figures will be, and what they do know they don’t quite believe yet, and thus it makes no sense to mention it. In the end, the third Catalan budget adjustment plan will mean applying Rajoy’s austerity measures, and the Government of the Generalitat has already stated –both directly and indirectly– that it will not be able meet any of the proposed targets with minister Montoro’s budgets. In other words, they are forced to adopt measures that they don’t, in fact, believe in.
